Mysterious Kostel and river Kolpa

In the valley of forest river Kolpa you will really feel the power of nature and disconnect from the hectic world. The word of the day will be green - first on the trails through Kočevsko forest, then in enjoying beautiful views from Kostel castle and finally with activities on or by the river Kolpa.

  • Program

    In the morning departure from Kočevje to Kolpa valley with e-bikes.

    We will cycle through forest trails where our guide will tell you more about forest and its inhabitants. Kočevsko is a home of all big forest wild animals - wolf, lynx and of course brown bear, but also deer and other smaller mammals.

    We will also try to track the animals. At the stops we will search for traces on the ground, faeces and food animals leave behind and discover which inhabitant walked the same paths as us. Besides that we will learn a lot about wildlife and their natural environment.

    After arriving in Kostel we will take a guided tour of Kostel castle, a second biggest castle complex in Slovenia.

    From Kostel we will descend right to Kolpa river where lunch will be awaiting. At Lobič Malenca guest house we will try delicious stews or if we decide for Madronič restaurant, we will try their legendary Kolpa trout.

    Based on the weather you will be able to rent a SUP, canoe or do rafting on Kolpa river for the real water adventure.

    We will return to Kočevje in the late afternoon.
